<p>The link between them all is age: To put it as simply as possible, early or premature menopause is typically used to mean menopause that comes well before the average age of normal menopause &#8212; when you&#8217;re still in your 20s, 30s, or early 40s. More technically, as used by many doctors and medical journals: Early menopause refers to the total cessation of your periods for 12 months &#8212; before the age of 45.<span id="more-37"></span></p>
<p>Some other causes of amennorhea (stopped periods) include:</p>
<p>Excessive weight gain or weight loss, Use of certain drugs-such psychiatric drugs and narcotics, excessive exercise, Recent use of birth control pills-it&#8217;s not uncommon to stop getting periods for up to six months after discontinuing the pill, Uterine adhesions -usually due to infection or d&amp;c procedures.</p>
<p>Whatever the technical term that&#8217;s used and whatever the cause, early menopause means one simple thing: your reproductive system is no longer working the way it used to&#8230;..and it&#8217;s happening at an age when you didn&#8217;t expect it to be happening. Women who have put off having children they always wanted, may feel betrayed when menopause comes too early.</p>
<p>Women who have skipped periods for over a year do meet the diagnosis of menopause. When they are under 40 that makes their menopause too early (&#8220;early menopause&#8221;). However, menopause is a normal part of the hormonal lives for all women. For some menopause just came about 10 to 12 years too soon.</p>
<p>Women with early menopause are often cut short on their normal life cycle exposure to estrogen and progesterone. <p>This 15 year study was recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition to show that there were fewer deaths as a result of non-cancerous inflammatory diseases and heart disease among women who were postmenopausal. This group of women consumed 1 to 3 cups of coffee each day. This showed that coffee was responsible for these health benefits, especially since it is the second most consumed beverage worldwide. Coffee is the main source of antioxidants for many Americans within their daily diet, which will help to reduce heart disease and inflammation, as confirmed by Lene Frost Andersen, PhD, who works in the nutrition department at the University of Oslo in Norway.<span id="more-65"></span></p>
<p>The results of the study were drawn from 27,312 postmenopausal women participating in this study done by Iowa Women&#8217;s Health. The study commenced in 1986, and all of the participants were 55 to 69 years old. They had not yet been diagnosed with any conditions like diabetes, cancer, or heart disease, excluding skin cancer. All of the women completed a 127 question survey about their regular habits, including coffee consumption, alcohol use, and smoking. None of the women changed their coffee drinking habits for the purpose of the study. The groups of women in the study were tracked for 15 years, and in that time, 1733 passed away from cancer, 1411 passed away from heart disease, and the remaining 1211 died from other causes. The women who consumed 1 to 3 cups of coffee each day had less of a risk of dying from heart disease or inflammatory diseases, not including cancer, as opposed to the other women studied.</p>
<p>The women consumed 1 to 3 cups of coffee each day and were less likely to die from heart disease by 24% compared to the women who didn&#8217;t drink coffee. The women who drank 1 to 3 cups of coffee each day had a 28% less risk of passing away from non-cancerous inflammation, compared to those who abstained from coffee altogether. Death from cancer was not related to coffee drinking.</p>
<p>These results were not seen for the consumption of other beverages, like tea, sugary drinks, fruit juice, diet soda, and milk. The study did not conclude that drinking coffee was completely responsible for a lowered risk of heart disease, but the results were consistent to confirm that drinking 1 to 3 cups of coffee each day provides protection against inflammatory disease and cardiovascular issues in women who are postmenopausal.</p>

<p>Women&#8217;s health insurance is a subject that is of major concern for a vast majority of working ladies.  In fact, health insurance in general, is a hot topic for many of today&#8217;s consumers.  With so many companies downsizing or completely eliminating their employee benefit packages the thought of not having adequate health insurance is scary.   This is especially true for women because the facts clearly show that nearly 1 out of every 5 women are underinsured or have no women&#8217;s health insurance offered by their employer.<span id="more-15"></span></p>
<p>Like most other health insurance plans there are a variety of women&#8217;s health insurance providers, but they are a scattered patchwork of insurance offerings that leave many ladies confused and wondering how adequate their health insurance coverage is and can they find a better health plan elsewhere with another insurance company or provider.  Take Medicaid for instance, this insurance coverage was designed for low-income women and pregnant women as well as a few other categories.  In reality Medicaid only provides women&#8217;s health insurance coverage for between 8%-10% of all women.</p>
<p>Company sponsored health insurance plans provide benefits and coverage for about 66% of the women that are employed by a company that offers any form of health insurance coverage.  Individual health insurance plans cover about 55 percent of the working women population.  Sadly, this leaves a rather large and alarming number (about 20%) of ladies that have no type of women&#8217;s health insurance based on inability to afford a private health insurance plan, not qualifying for Medicaid or working for an employer that doesn&#8217;t offer health insurance as an employee benefit program.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s no big secret that women have different health concerns and risks then men so it&#8217;s vitally important that when choosing a provider of women&#8217;s health insurance the proper research is done in order to insure that these additional health needs are addressed properly and completely.  Most women tend to live longer making the requirement for a health care plan even more important then your average health care insurance coverage.</p>
<p>Women&#8217;s health insurance continues to be studied and analyzed carefully by many companies in order to fully understand the unique requirements women face with their health related issues and concerns.  With so many women still underinsured or receiving no health coverage at all, this promises to open up new avenues of opportunity for every woman to be offered adequate health insurance coverage.</p>
